A Monsoon Wedding in Bangalore: Photography Tips and Timing

Golden hour couple portrait — pre wedding shoot Bangalore

Bangalore's monsoon brings soft light and dramatic skies — and a few practical challenges. Here is how we plan monsoon wedding photography that turns the weather into an advantage.

A monsoon wedding in Bangalore is a photographer's gift. The light is soft, the skies are dramatic, and the greens are impossibly lush. But the rain demands a plan. Here is how we handle it.

Embrace the soft light

Overcast monsoon skies act like a giant softbox — even, flattering light that suits every skin tone. Portraits that would be harsh in direct sun become gentle and luminous. We lean into this and schedule couple portraits for the middle of the day rather than fighting for golden hour.

Plan for rain, not against it

We always identify covered areas at the venue in advance — a verandah, a mandap with a solid roof, a glass-walled hall. If the rain arrives mid-ceremony, we move seamlessly rather than scrambling. And sometimes the rain itself becomes the frame: umbrellas, reflections, the couple laughing under a downpour.

Protect the gear

Every camera has weather sealing and a rain cover in our kit. Memory cards are backed up twice a day. A monsoon wedding is no place to cut corners on equipment.

Timing the rituals

Bangalore monsoon rain often arrives in short, intense bursts in the late afternoon. Where possible, we schedule outdoor rituals for the morning and keep the evening for indoor or covered events. Flexibility in the timeline is key.

The best monsoon frames are made by photographers who planned for the rain — and were ready when it stopped.
