The Perfect Wedding Day Photography Timeline for Bangalore Couples

June 22, 2024 · 7 min read · By Vijay

Candid Bangalore wedding — bride getting ready

A great timeline is the difference between a relaxed wedding day and a rushed one. Here is the photography timeline we recommend for a Bangalore wedding, hour by hour.

The single biggest thing couples can do for their wedding photographs is build a realistic timeline. Rush is the enemy of good photography. Here is the timeline we recommend for a typical Bangalore wedding day.

Morning: getting ready (2 hours)

We arrive while the bride is having her makeup and jewellery done. These are some of the most intimate frames of the day — the bride with her mother, the details of the lehenga, the nervous excitement. The groom's getting-ready is covered by the second photographer.

Late morning: the first look or haldi (1 hour)

If the couple is open to a "first look" before the ceremony, this is when it happens — a private moment that produces some of the most emotional frames of the day. Otherwise, this slot covers the haldi or mehndi.

Midday: the ceremony (1.5–2 hours)

The mandap, the vows, the thaali, the saptapadi. We are positioned for every key moment, with two angles running so nothing is missed. This is the heart of the day.

Afternoon: family portraits (1 hour)

Immediately after the ceremony, while everyone is still together, we move through the family combinations efficiently. A shot list shared in advance keeps this to under an hour.

Late afternoon: couple portraits (30–45 minutes)

The golden hour slot — the only posed couple time of the day. We keep it short and fun. This is where the frame-worthy portraits come from.

Evening: the reception (3–4 hours)

The entrance, the first dance, the toasts, the dancing. Candid coverage throughout. We stay through the vidaai, the moment that almost always produces the day's most powerful frame.
